There are so many amazing wedding venues in Halifax and we’re always excited when new ones pop up. We love working in new spaces, but we also have a few favourites that we’ve worked at time and time again. One of those favourites is the Halifax Seaport Market.
The market is such an awesome reception space because it is literally a blank canvas to do with what you want! They also have a gorgeous rooftop patio that features expansive views of the Halifax Harbour - perfect for a summer wedding ceremony & cocktail hour.
Water views and a reception space that can transform to whatever you want? Sounds like a dream!!
The other unique element about this venue is that it functions as the Saturday market until 3:00pm. I bet you’re wondering, “how in the world do they close up the market at 3:00pm and host a wedding onsite for 5:30pm!?!” Trust us - we thought the same thing the first time we encountered this spot! With trusty vendors, a fast working team, and laid-back clients, it always comes together flawlessly!
We’ve compiled some of our favourite weddings that have taken place at the market over the years and are so excited to share with you the different ways we’ve made the space feel special to each couple.
Rowan & Lucas
Rowan & Lucas took on a modern vibe for their October wedding. The weather was amazing - it was 20 degrees and sunny, which is rare for October in Halifax! The contrast of dark wood tables and black chairs with the bright floral & bridesmaids dresses looked stunning in the industrial market space.

Katherine & Mike
Katherine & Mike wanted to keep on theme with their June wedding and have the market space feel like spring! Blush pink, ivory and beige decor elements along with wooden chairs made the market feel so fresh & light. The delicate bud vase centrepieces added the perfect pop of floral - especially because it was peony season!

Jill & Fidel
Jill & Fidel’s summer wedding was oh-so-beautiful! The weather was a bit tricky that day with rain & overcast skies, but they carried on like it was a clear sunny day. Their circular ceremony floral installation was absolutely stunning - pastel pinks and purples were so pretty for a July wedding. The laid-back vibes carried on into their cocktail-style reception. In our opinion, the market is a perfect venue for a standing dinner reception.
Liz & James
Liz & James had the most beautiful vision for their mid-September wedding. Late summer weddings are the best time of year to get married in Halifax - the days are warm and sunny and the nights are cool. They opted for harvest tables & wood chairs, which softened the market space. The floral garlands hanging (yes, hanging!!) from the rafters made us feel like we were at a chic garden party.
Chantal & Alex
Chantal & Alex’s inspiration for their wedding was to bring the outside in. Greenery, pops of colourful floral & wood accents helped us achieve this look in the market. We chose to host the ceremony in the Galley since the wedding was in late April, and thank goodness we did because it was such a rainy day! The groom, groomsmen and a few of the male guests wore kilts; paired with the grey skies outside, it was the perfect Maritime wedding!

Lynn & Brian
Lynn & Brian's mid-summer wedding was absolutely stunning. We are loving the colour palette they chose - the caramel-coloured roses against the baby blue bridesmaids dresses are so on trend. I can definitely see this colour combo carrying through to 2020. The rustic harvest tables paired with elegant brown chivaris and lush greenery garlands are giving us serious heart eyes!
Whitney & Jeremy
Whitney & Jeremy's August long weekend wedding was pure perfection. The goal for decor was elegance - we love a good blush pink wedding over here, and these guys had all the right touches. The bridesmaids dresses, lush flowers and table linens were the perfect shades of pink. The white folding chairs at the ceremony made us feel like we were in the couple's backyard (which just so happened to overlook the ocean...) and the wooden cross backs at the reception tied in that backyard theme while still looking so elegant.
It's amazing to see how the same space can be interpreted between couples - I think that's one of the most inspiring parts of this job! Getting to create beautiful weddings for each of our clients that are a true reflection of their lives together.
