Are you as excited as we are for sweater weather? We're celebrating by reliving this fall editorial shoot we created last autumn in the beatuiful Annapolis Valley.
We were inspired by the gorgeous new winery called Lightfoot and Wolfville and the stunning colours and scenery of the Annapolis Valley. It really is one of the best places to visit in the autumn during the harvest season. There are so many things to do and explore and it's certainly the time of year the community is bustling. We have since gotten to plan five weddings at Lightfoot and Wolfville at their spectacular property that overlooks the Minas Basin and worked with the awesome team that executes weddings flawlessly. Brittany MacLeod photographed this shoot beautifully and I'll tell you all about it...
Rows of grape vines, rolling hills and little fields that fit together like a patchwork quilt. Elegant Paper Co. tied all of these whimsical elements into the stunning stationery suite they created. Each piece is hand torn to create a rustic handmade feel and printed on cotton paper with the prettiest texture. Lisa of Scribble and Script did a custom illustration of the property which makes this suite one-of-a-kind. Gold flakes added that last element of luxury.
The Tidal Loft is the perfect place for the bridesmiads to get ready and relax in the morning. White washed walls and streaming with light, overlooking the vines it's the perfect place to get glam. There is another space for the groomsmen on the opposite side of the building with separate bathrooms and staircase so there is no chance of accidental glimpses before it's time. Lightfoot and Wolfville can also provide breakfast and lunch. They make the most amazing oven fired pizza, totally drool worthy.
Jessica Fletcher did Megan's hair and Allison Kirby, her makeup she looked like the most gorgeous bride. Katrina Tuttle Bridalcreated the most incredible A-line dress with sleeves that is perfect for the autumn season for the shoot. She even made the most amazing skirt overlay in a wine colour. It's such a great way to change up your look on your day and if you want that unconventional look but are worried you'll miss being in the traditional white dress. You can have your cake and eat it too.
The floral elements were arranged by our team members Rebecca and Emily. They had traditional elements like red roses, flat leaf eucalyptus and cedar bows mixed with foraged Nova Scotia foliage giving it a wild but elegant feeling. A cedar table garland brings in evergreen that leads you into the holidays.
Trinity Jewellers supplied a beautiful halo set engagement ring and matching band. With a lovely traditional gold band for the groom.
Meghan of Just Iced Custom Cakes created not one, but THREE gorgeous cakes, complete with sugar foliage, figs and grapes. Pssst, we got to eat one and it tasted even better than it looked, yea, it was that good.
The reception table was set with beautiful vintage rentals from Make Merry including the fine china, brass candle sticks, votives and silver flatware. Lightfoot and Wolfville provides these gorgeous tables that are made by Halifax Harvest Tables, they also provide elegant chiavari chairs. It's all artfully arranged the Barrel Cellar, which is a jaw droopingly gorgeous room that spans the entire length of the winery and houses all the wine barrels where it ages. Between 100-150 people can fit in this room and all sit at one long table, which makes for a lovely family style dinner. The table numbers, place cards and menus were created by Elegant Paper Co. to co-ordinate with the invitations and save the dates.
This lovely and romantic banner hanging as a backdrop was custom made and calligraphed by Scribble and Script and screen printed by Midnight Oil Print and Design. It makes the perfect ceremony arbour backdrop and can double for the same for a photo booth.
We were so happy to have this shoot featured on the blog Styled in Lace last year. Check it out here.
Arrow and Knot Productions captured and created a speculator video of the day.
Editorial shoots are such a great way for us to feature local vendors and venues. They are also a great creative outlet and are a labour of love. We hope you're ready for the fall season, as for us we can't wait for pumpkin spice everything!
