Destination Wedding Planning, East Coast Style

If you're going to do something, do it right....

How many times have we heard that one, but let's be honest, is there ever a better scenario for that phrase than your wedding day?

It amazes me when I look at our upcoming weddings and count the number of couples we work with in helping to plan their East Coast destination wedding. The Maritimes truly has become a hub for destination weddings. I mean, let's face it, there are fewer places in Canada where you can host a wedding with such a beautiful natural backdrop - I consider myself truly lucky to live in such a stunning part of the world.

With a destination wedding comes thinking about guests traveling from all over to celebrate with our couples. This is why planning pre-wedding festivities have become a common topic of our planning discussions and some of the most anticipated parts of our client's wedding-weekends.

Amanda & Spencer topped the "wedding weekend" charts this past August.

Their weekend at Pictou Lodge kicked off with a beach volleyball tournament all day on Friday, followed by the most epic beach party!

Friday night was literally what pre-wedding dreams are made of. BBQ catered by Pictou Lodge, local beer, ciders, and vodka sodas served out of a dory by Pineapple Eventworks, dancing to a DJ in bare feet on the sand, under a canopy of lights (thank you Glow - this set-up was no easy feat!), and cooling off in the ocean when guests worked up a sweat on the dance floor.

The wedding day itself was one of my all-time favorites. The ceremony was so wonderfully meaningful - that arbour! Followed by more drinks and music on the lawn. A delicious meal at 2 mile-long harvest tables and of course more dancing!

Sunday capped off the perfect weekend with a brunch where we had the opportunity to repurpose all of Chelsea Lee Flowers's blooms and send guests off with full-bellies and a life-time worth of memories.

Working with Amanda, Spencer, and Debbi (my MOB / BFF) was such a joy and being apart of this epic weekend celebration was what makes me excited to do it all again for our 2020 couples.

Here's to holiday shopping, tree decorating and dreams of your own East Coast wedding weekend!
