Choosing the Perfect Chairs

When it come to planning your reception, your chairs are a huge practical part of the day... people need to sit, right?! They play a big role in your decor aesthetic. We encourage our clients to browse the options and consider renting the perfect complimentary style for the space. We typically source from MacFarlands Events, Glow The Event Store and Casely's.

Different styles can be used in so many ways and I've gathered up some photos from Elegant Productions Weddings to show you exactly what I'm talking about.

The ceremony is especially important, there is often very little decor other than chairs and some floral during a ceremony. Chair style really makes a hugh impact. Like the walnut chiavaris at Lyndsey and Kirk's ceremony, which were quickly moved to the reception space during cocktail hour. Doing a flip after the ceremony is a great way to make your budget go a littler further and you won't need double the amount of chairs.

Samantha and Skylar opted for cross back style chairs for their ceremony and two different colours of chiavaris for their reception. The cross backs complimented the gorgeous backyard scenery and floral arbour perfectly while the chiavaris suited the ballroom reception space effortlessly.

The gold chiavaris at Alicia and Adam's wedding were just a regal as the ballroom in the Westin. These chairs also made their way around tables for the reception in a separate ballroom.

These white chairs are so practical for transport as they fold flat, which is great if you need to move them to a difficult location. We also love white chairs in a darker space, they really lighten it up and bring that bridal feeling.

This folding style also comes in a dark wood finish with white cushions, don't they make such an impact in the Keltic Lodge Ballroom?

White chiavaris are oh-so-elegant. They bring such a brightness and bridal feeling to a space. They pop when paired with harvest tables and compliment white linens beautifully.

Personally when I think of a traditional wedding chair, I almost always think of gold chiavaris. Can you believe the chiavari design is over 200 years old! It's also known as the Tiffany Chair or the Chiavarina. Because of this chairs history, it certainly has a traditional feel and brings elegance to any space. We especially love it used in more rustic and industrial venue's like heritage barns and large event spaces.

Special chairs for the bride and groom make them feel extras special.  Jasmine and Lee opted for vintage style chairs at their winding family style table.

Many venues have chairs that are wonderful for your reception that are included in your package, like the Lord Nelson Hotel.

Walnut chiavaris have a slight wood grain making them rustic and elegant all at the same time. They chairs pair beautifully with harvest tables and linens alike.

Black chiavaris are a statement chair. We love how bold they look in these designs. They ground the space and give that extra oomph. They're a great option for a modern design that still has a hint of tradition.

By far we think cross back chairs have been the most popular style in the past few years here in the maritimes. They have that french country feeling which ties in perfectly with the atlantic provinces. They're casual but have just the right amount of refinement and can be used with or without cushions. They too compliment tables draped in linen and harvest tables.

And last, but certainly not least. Ghost chairs have to be one of my favourites. They add a touch of modern flair to a rustic or traditional design and the contrast is always a feast for the eyes. Plus, look how cool they are when customized with modern calligraphy. Can you imagine them doubling as place cards, which each guests written on them!? We sure can!

This is just a small selection of rental chairs available and the possibilities are endless. Hopefully these photos of EP weddings and editorial shoots give you some inspiration on all the different ways chairs can be styled.
